Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Grid North collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. If you have any questions, email hello@gridnorth.design.
What I collect
When you use the contact form or email me, I collect the details you choose to share: your name, email address, organisation and anything you tell me about your project, such as timings and budget.
If we work together, I'll also keep the contact and billing details needed to run the project and send invoices.
I don't use the website to collect any other personal information, and I never buy mailing lists.
How I use it
I use your information only to:
reply to your enquiry and discuss your project
deliver the work we've agreed, and keep in touch while it's underway
send invoices and keep the business records the law requires
I won't add you to a mailing list or send you marketing without asking first.
The legal basis for this is my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running my business, and, once we work together, the contract between us.
Who I share it with
I never sell your information. It's only shared with the services I use to run the business:
Squarespace, which hosts this website and processes contact form submissions
Namecheap Private Email, which handles my email
Google which provides Google Analytics (see Cookies and analytics below)
Some of these providers store data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they use approved safeguards to protect it.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that don't lead to a project: deleted within 12 months.
Client records and invoices: kept for 6 years, as required for tax purposes.
Cookies
This website uses a small number of cookies. Some are essential: Squarespace needs them to run the site securely, and they can't be switched off.
I also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site, for example which pages are visited, how long people stay and roughly where in the world visitors come from. This helps me improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies named ga and ga_ followed by a unique code, which last up to 2 years. It collects information such as the pages you view, your device and browser type and your approximate location. It doesn't store your full IP address, and I can't use it to identify you personally.
Google processes this information on my behalf and may store it outside the UK, including in the United States, under approved safeguards. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time: clear this site's cookies in your browser settings and the banner will appear again on your next visit, so you can make a new choice. You can also block cookies in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
I don't use advertising cookies, and I don't link Google Analytics to Google advertising services.
I also use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google search results, for example which searches lead people here. It doesn't set cookies on this website or collect any information about individual visitors. It only shows me combined figures from Google Search.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how I use it. Just email hello@gridnorth.design and I'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. I'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
